"Glass Castle" by Jeanette walls(first 20 pages)

This is a book about a girl and her memories of being a child. She had, and still has, very irresponsible and stupid parents who are disfunctional. For example, the mom lets the girl cook hot dogs at the age of 3 with no supervision. Not to my surprise, she was burned all over and went to the hospital. Even worse then that, the parnets took her out of the hospital before she was fully recovered, which is just plain old dumb. The last unadult like thing her parents did was not take her brother to the hospital when he broke his head. As you can see, these are examples are how these parents are not normal and have serious issues. Jeanette, the girl, takes after her parnets a lot, so that may pose to be a problem later in the book. So far, I think the book is great and would be loved by any kid or adult because it interests mostly everyone and is an exciting read.

Stotan!(whole book)- For summer reading

Stotan! by Chris Cruthcher

This book is about 4 highschool senior swimmers, Nortie, Jeff, Lion and Walker who decide to join stotan week on there winter break. This is 5 days of intense swimming, running, pushups and much more. After becoming so tired and wanttng to quit stotan week in the middle, there inner stotan(a cross between a spartan and a stoic) comes out and they begin to have the mind set of they are gunna do it no matter what. By staying together the nights after the days of stotan week, they become better friends and share experiences that make them stronger inside and better friends. For example, Nortie tells a story about how his brother hung himself at age 13 because of all the abuse he got from his father. They made them a tighter knit group of friends. Plus, from this week they become better swimmers, and even more This book is also about the highschool life and what happens in it. I thought this book was only alrite and would recommend it to teenagers who like swimming and are interested in other teens lives.
