Friday Night Lights By H.G Bissenger(first half)

This stunning novel is about a small town in Texas called Odessa in which high school Football is what the town relies on. Everyone goes to the games and everyones lives revolve around the team. When the team wins, all is well, when they loose, chaos breaks out and panic occurs. Although winning or loosing in definhes this small town, and winning states is all that seems to matter, this book is not just about the team, but also the problems with the players, coaches, fans. Great amount of pressures come with this team and sometimes even violence and fights based on the team. This is not a normal high school football team- this is almost a professional team in that every move is critiqued and criticized. So far I love this book. I have seen the movie and the televison show but in my opinion the book is the best because it goes into detail about the struggles of this town. I would reccomend this to a sports fan and football fan who understands the game of football.

The Pilot's wife By Anita Shreve

Things seemed to be going well for Kathryn as she had a job as a teacher, lived in the New England area, and had a great husband Jack and a 15 year old daughter. It seems great until a knock at the door turns her life upside down. She is told that her husband has died in an explosion in a plane crash. This story goes national and an investigation goes on in which Kathryn finds things out about Jack that she never knew. An initial repoort claims that the accident was planned and that it was a suicide, something Kathryn would never expect out of Jack, somone she thought she knew. Ultimately, it is discovered that Jack led a whole other life with another women in another country. This is surprising to Kathryn who thought she knew him so well, being married to him for so long. A lesson learned is that perhaps one never knows a person as well as one thinks they do, and one can never know a person to well. This book raised a lot of thoughts in my mind about life and conspiracies about my family and such. I would reccomend this book to those interested in mysteries and have the patience to get through some boring spots. Overall, it will pay off because it is a good read
